Project Description
This governmental office (BPKAD) complex in Banyuwangi City, Indonesia is designed to embody both functionality and cultural heritage, seamlessly integrating modern urban efficiency with the traditional architectural essence of the Osing community. The layout consists of two distinct masses: a large main office building featuring a rooftop garden across 3,440 sqm, and a separate 174 sqm reception lounge, both interconnected through a covered corridor with sheltered walkways. This spatial arrangement enhances circulation while preserving a formal yet inviting atmosphere for visitors and employees alike. At the heart of the main building, a central courtyard with an open-to-sky void allows natural light to flood the interior, promoting energy efficiency through the stack effect for passive cooling. The single-gate system ensures controlled access, complemented by outdoor parking for practicality. The architectural language embraces simple geometry, maintaining a refined aesthetic with a restrained palette of white surfaces, black doff steel finishes, warm wood facades, and exposed steel structures. The roofline draws inspiration from the Osing traditional house, reinforcing regional identity while delivering a contemporary interpretation of heritage. This design serves as a modern yet culturally resonant space, fostering a strong connection between tradition, sustainability, and governmental operations. This governmental office (BPKAD) complex in Banyuwangi City, Indonesia is designed to embody both functionality and cultural heritage, seamlessly integrating modern urban efficiency with the traditional architectural essence of the Osing community.
